Description of the problem	Transmission failed causing a sudden deceleration and lack of a forward motion resulting in a near rear end collision with a tractor trailer. Only after the event did i learn of the issue with the transmissions in the nissan models frontier, pathfinder and xterra 2005-2010. I am 15k miles outside of the extended warranty but was not aware of any potential issue with safety. I never received notice or advice of such an event being possible. Had i known i would have taken proactive action. Nissan needs to extend this repair issue through a recall and repair the issue at their entire cost. This is a design flaw. The public safety is at stake!
