Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owned a 2018 nissan murano. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 50 mph, when attempting to press the brake pedal in order to stop for an oncoming turning vehicle when the brakes failed. The contact stated that they ended up crashing into the turning vehicle causing the vehicle to bounce off of the other vehicle and hit a nearby guardrail. The airbags did deploy and smoke emitted from them. The police were contacted. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The contact stated their wife needed to be cut out the vehicle and taken to the hospital via ambulance. The wife sustained injuries to their right leg, ankle, and the rib area. The contact who was the passenger received injuries to their left knee and head where medical attention was needed. The contact had not contacted the dealer however prior to the failure being experienced the vehicle had a 21,000 mile inspection. The vehicle had not been diagnosed.
