Description of the problem	Unsafe design of tilt steering wheel adjustment lever (swal) that will cause a shattered left knee in a front or rear crash (forc). The swal is positioned on the lower left side of the steering column so that the left knee will be shattered in a forc. Other vehicles do not have this design flaw. Nissan maintains that the swal design has not resulted in problems and therefore nothing will be done. In other words, unless the government takes action to prevent serious injuries nissan will do nothing. Another example of big business not taking the initiative and correcting a design flaw until the government intervenes. When will the federal government intervene?
