Description of the problem	While driving the vehicle encountered a large pothole a few yards from a stop sign. Upon application of the brakes to stop the brake pedal "went to the floor" and the vehicle did not slow down (vehicle speed was approx. 25 mph). Evasive action had to be taken in order for the vehicle to navigate the intersection without incident. The driver limped the vehicle to his home in order to troubleshoot the problem. The individual was able to restore the brake system to normal by hitting the abs actuator and control unit with a rubber mallet.
