| Description of the problem | The driver's seat suddenly leaned to the left while making a right turn. Fortunately, it was on a side street and the vehicle was not traveling at a high rate of speed. After investigating the problem it was learned that the left side of the link assembly (seat frame) had fractured at the end of a poorly designed bracket. There is obviously an ongoing problem with nissan (see "murano seat" on the internet) in recognizing that a product recall should issued. However, what is even more frustrating is that nissan has changed the link assembly design, but will not sell that component separately. They are expecting the consumer to pay in excess of $1,000. 00 to purchase the entire seat frame assembly with the seat motors included! If the nhtsa does not see this as a safety issue - than what is? |
