| Description of the problem | Due to a recall a plastic shield was installed a few years ago by dealer to protect the fuel tank from road debris. Something must have hit the shield causing four of the 6 plastic fasteners to break off or fail due to age. The shield was dangling on passenger side. I purchased and installed replacement fasteners. Most people will not know to inspect for this leaving the tank exposed. I think nissan's solution is inadequate. The shield should be more robust. Perhaps metal with metal fasteners? I also think this should be a recall of the recall. |
