Description of the problem	I was driving the vehicle in residential area, it sounded like metal was grinding the vehicle filled with smoke, and . Completely shut off. I had to have vehicle towed to the dealer as it was unable to function. As soon as the mechanic turned on the car he stated it was the transfer case. From my research the transfer case is connected to the transmission as well as the front and rear axles by means of drive shaft. This is a definite safety issue, if i was driving on a highway and this happened and the vehicle stalled i would have been in a terrible car crash. The dealer said it was not covered under the warranty and the cost of repair was $3,800. 00. This sis ridiculous. Nissan should do a recall on this part. I searched the internet and there are so many complaints about the same issue in the same make/model and year of this vehicle. Something needs to be done, nissan should issue a recall on this part its very dangerous. For the people who have already paid should receive a refund or partial refund because this is a common problem and it is in fact a safety issue. I just thank god my children were not in the vehicle at that time..
