| Description of the problem | My 2009 nissan frontier came with a full size spare tire that had no sensor for the tire pressure monitoring system. This means that, when i rotated the tires, the tpm system lit up and stayed on. Further, the system will stay on 80% of the time, which is the amount of time that the spare will be on the ground during the life of the tires. It will be in the spare position only 20% of the time. It seems that adding a sensor to the spare should greatly increase safety with only a slight increase in cost per vehicle.
