| Description of the problem | The airbag sensor began flashing when driving on a highway and the error code is for the passenger seatbelt. The non-dealer mechanic was not able to repair and the airbags are deactivated. The engine control module failed when the vehicle was in motion on a city street. The ecm is not available from nissan or after market for this 10 year old vehicle. The ecm cannot be rebuilt. Thus, this low mileage vehicle in otherwise excellent condition is now junk. Nissan has failed to provide expected vehicle reliability and consumer protections. Apparently, nissan ceased manufacture (including after market) of this critical engine component soon after initial sale without making any provisions for replacement upon failure. I am told that this is a standard business practice for nissan. |
