Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan frontier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed to display accurate fuel levels. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who confirmed that the fuel sending unit needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the vin failed to qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxiliary tank). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 112,000.... Updated 12/03/12*bf the consumer stated the failure occurred while traveling approximately 35 mph. The service engine soon light illuminated and the fuel gauge dropped to empty. The consumer stated he knew the vehicle had over a half tank of fuel. The consumer took the vehicle to his private mechanic, a local business and the state inspection facility and all three informed him an error code of p0463 fuel sending failure displayed. The consumer stated the vehicle had been giving false and erratic readings since august 2012 and on one occasion, he ran out of gas. The consumer discovered had recall had been issued.
