Description of the problem	As i was on my way back from the store, i was slowing down to come to an intersection to turn when i felt this grinding feeling in the brake pedal. It made an awful noise and i had no brakes per se. The emergency brake light was on, however, i had not put it on. I had to stop as best i could and turn the car off. Only after i turned the car off, did the emergency brake light go off and i could continue. I didn't do it again on the way home, but it has happened several times since then. Once, i had my granddaughter with me and it really scared me because we were on a major highway when someone pulled out in front of me. Luckily i was a safe distance behind and it was rush hour or i might have been actually going down the highway. As it was, i was sitting in traffic. As of now, my "service engine soon light is on" and i can't get it inspected.
