Description of the problem	The driver side coil spring, which is part of the front suspension, broke. This part uses almost 3/8 inch steel, and when it breaks under compression, can cause serious damage, and potential vehicle stability issues on the highway. The vehicle involved is only 4 years old with 44000 miles, which is not much mileage on this vehicle. This part should not have failed and is considered a defect in my opinion. We were fortunate that our vehicle was local, and not on the highway when this happened. There was no tire damage when the spring snapped. We had a mechanic replace the spring within the week.
