| Description of the problem | My 17 year old son was driving the car about a mile from our home (going about 20 mph) when hit hit a bump and the back axel broke. Fortunately he was close to home when this happened. Had he been on the interstate, he could have been seriously injured. My husband contacted the dealership and was told that this is a known defect with nissan altimas from this year but that our vehicle was not on the list of vins that qualify for reimbursement. We repaired the vehicle which cost about $400 in labor and $225. 49 in nissan parts. The vehicle had about 80,000 miles at the time. This seems like a clear case of faulty parts. |
