| Description of the problem | Rear stabilizer bar (aka sway bar) snapped on driver's side. Was turning right from a stop and heard a "sprung" noise but thought it was just a small pothole. A week later, noticed something hanging under the car - it was part of the bar. No rust under the car whatsoever - failure due to corrosion would be highly unlikely. Metal fatigue, manufacturer defect, or under-engineered suspension design are more likely. Body roll a bit more pronounced than before the incident, but vehicle is still safe to drive in its current state. Car out of warranty. Purchased aftermarket replacement part and will be installing it myself. |
