Description of the problemI've had my car over a year without any problem. I replaced the rear tires five weeks ago (not the fronts, which tread depth was fine), with the same size tires as the stock rubber. In the past two weeks the front brakes started locking and releasing, locking and releasing, but it's only been on freeway ramps, on an incline or decline, and in a curve. It makes what i describe as a groaning sound, which i associate with the brake pads clamping down, causing a reverberation in the whole assembly. The "slip" light in the dash comes on when it occurs. At first it only seemed to be the right, front, but it just started doing it on the left, front as well. I live in florida, so snow is not an issue. It's done it on wet and dry roads, although my heart pounds more when it's on a wet road and the front end slides in a curve. I've only applied moderate brake pressure, not nearly enough to cause the antilock brake system to act. The dealer evaluated the car today and stated no "codes" came up on their computer diagnostic, and they stated the brake pads and rotors, and brakes generally were in good working order. So, nothing has been done to change the problem. My theory is that the vdc (vehicle dynamic control) system is flawed, and actually causes the brakes to lock, causing an uncontrolled slide/skid that is extremely dangerous. The brakes lock only for maybe a second with each lock, release, then lock, and release. However, a full second of locked brakes is a long time in traffic, in a curve. There is a posting at www. 350zmotoring. Com by username gilvalas from 2/10/03, which sounds similar to my complaint. *nm
