| Description of the problem | Tl*the contact owns a 2007 mercury mountaineer. While driving 12-14 mph and attempting to slow down to a stop, the vehicle lunged forward. The contact depressed the brake pedal more firmly to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who could not duplicate the failure. Once while driving in reverse, the vehicle lunged forward and pinned his son between his vehicle and another. The child sustained arm injuries. No police report was filed. The failure had been occurring since 2008. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the contact was unsure of what the dealer did to remedy the problem.
