| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2006 mercury montego. While driving with the cruise control activated, the contact depressed the brake pedal to slow down, but the vehicle failed to stop. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed and the vehicle felt as if the vehicle were accelerating. The contact stated that the vehicle was out of control. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over at 60-65 mph and quickly powered off the engine. While the vehicle was in neutral, the contact restarted the vehicle and it operated normally. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,300. |
