| Description of the problem | After driving about 28 miles the car lost power while going downhill at 75 mph on the freeway. The "tool wrench" light came on and the car continued to lose speed. Pulled into the emergency lane and put the vehicle in park. Put it back in drive and the rpm jumped from 900-1100 rpm and car surged at about 3-5 mph; it would not go faster than 10 mph. Stopped and put it back into park and turned off the ignition and let the car sit for about 1 minute. Restarted the car and it started very roughly, it did smooth out and idled at 1000 rpm. The "tool wrench" light was no longer on and the car drove normally the rest of the way home which was about 11 miles. The car has almost 59k miles on it. |
