| Description of the problem | Defective latch door on mercury milan 2006 . 26,000 miles. Front passenger door opened by itself while driving in a shopping center although electronically latched . We taped the door to the frame of the vehicle and drove to a dealer . This car is driven by one person "solo" very rarely the passenger side is used. Upon driving to the nearest dealer i t was found the latch was broken , and apparently the replacement parts were red flagged. I t means that the newer part that arrived two weeks later was redesigned for this model car and the older part were no longer in use.. I do believe that would be extremely dangerous that a door to open while driving on a highway involving a passenger and also involving other vehicles in parallel lanes. |
