Description of the problemAfter completely filling up my fuel tank and drove away, i was overwhelmed by a strong fuel fumes. When i arrived at my residence, i found that some fuel had leaked onto the ground. I went online and found all over the internet that other owners of this class of vehicle have had similar problems related to the fuel sending units located under the back seat. When i looked under the seat the pad had fuel through to the foam under the seat. I allowed it to air out, and called mbz as i noticed that dot had filed a report in 04/2012 in regards to this problem in all w211 e class mercedes in conjunction with the recall for the e55 2008-020001. I called mbz and they stated that they couldn't do anything about it no matter how documented by other owners. We have a two year old that sits in a car seat, this is clearly unacceptable if a known issue on behalf of mercedes.
