Description of the problem	Lincoln mkx 2008 with an automatic open/close feature for the rear lift gate, the lift gate has periodically reopened shortly after closure when using the button in the rear to close it. It has reopened twice while the vehicle was moving. The most recent event occurred while backing out of the garage and led to a smashed rear window and other damage to the rear of the vehicle leading to $2000 in repairs. The latch seems to be the problem. An earlier event occurred after a stop at a rest area. The lift gate opened as we were driving on the entrance ramp to the highway. The dealer has been requested to fix the problem and reimburse us for the repairs. The resolution from the dealer is pending.
