| Description of the problem | Engine began idling roughly, and eventually the engine warning light came on. The problem was diagnosed as a crack in the cylinder head for number 8 cylinder. Talking to lincoln mechanics and checking various discussion groups on the web showed that a large number of other lincoln aviators, and other vehicles with the same engine were experiencing this same failure. The rough idle can be alleviated by increasing the idle speed or taking the car out of gear while idling. Both of these actions are dangerous and can lead to accidents. |
