Description of the problem	My 2013 kia sportage ex - the engine started knocking and seized. This was in may 2018. Because i purchased the vehicle used, i did not believe that i would have any kind of warranty or recourse to have my engine repaired or replaced. I made my complaint on the kia website last week, after i had seen articles online regarding a recall. I just received a phone call from kia corporate this morning. This was in regard to my complaint. Basically, because i have a different engine (dohc) than the recalled engine (gdi), i don't have a warranty, kia will not back up their product, they will not help to get my engine repaired even though the engine i have has the exact same issues as the engine that was under recall. It was further explained that the kia dealerships are independently owned and that they, the dealerships, would make the decisions on repairs. Kia corporate will not override that. I ended up having to hang up because of sheer frustration over the fact that i was first told there might be assistance, and then when i questioned what kind of assistance, i basically was not going to get any, it was going to be on a so called case by case basis. The bottom line is that the phone call ended up being a waste of my time and only made my point that kia does not have well built vehicles, they do not back up their product, and i will never ever buy another kia vehicle again!
