Description of the problem	Engine blew without warning while driving on a city street. Vehicle was towed to private mechanic. I was told that i would need a new engine and it was not due to lack of maintenance. He has seen three kia vehicles within the last two weeks with the same exact issue. Contacted kia customer service and was advised to have vehicle towed to dealership. Mechanic confirmed a rod had been thrown and needed new engine. Mechanic also confirmed oil was clean and full. I faxed all of my maintenance records to dealership. Area district manager refused goodwill towards cost of engine. I never spoke to the district manager. I was told my only other option was to contact kia customer service and to have my complaint escalated in the system. My vin was not included in the recall even though my engine has the same exact problem as the recall. The recall needs to be expanded to include all kia sportages. Kia is making money off of its own manufacturing defect. My vehicle had approximately 108,000 miles on it when the engine blew. There are hundreds complaints about this happening. I don't understand why it is taking so long for the recall to be expanded. It has been under investigation for over a year by the nhtsa.
