| Description of the problem | The vehicle has 85447 miles. Driver was driving down the road when they heard a loud clanking noise followed by a complete failure and seizing of the lower engine mechanism. All this occurred in a few minuets time span. The car was in motion on a rural hwy when the engine seized. Car and driver were stranded on side of the hwy requiring the need to be towed. Upon research, i believe this is related to the current scv147 or 17v224000 recall. Kia motors recall line was contacted and they stated that this car is not listed as part of the recall listed above. The description of events of other drivers leads me to believe that this is similar in nature. I believe this should be researched further and the current recall should be expanded. The vehicle acts as if the lower bearing gave out prematurely. |
