Description of the problem	My 2012 kia sportage engine had a catastrophic failure at 141,000 miles. There was metal debris in the engine, however, i am told that my particular engine is not in the class action lawsuit covering these engine failures. However, kia has discontinued the engine and now the replacement engine is back ordered 5-6 months. I have to speculate that there are more catastrophic engine failures out there that have not been addressed by the lawsuit. I am lodging a complaint because i believe they know there is a problem with this engine overall and they have decided that the number of complaints are too low to bother with. We were in the vehicle in commuter traffic on the freeway at the time that the engine failed... Thankfully, quick thinking saved us from having a wreck and we managed to get the vehicle off the road. My sportage had been well maintained, all oil changes and maintenance performed at the right times... There was no reason for the engine to fail. $23,000 for a car that ran for 141,000 miles... So disappointed. And they want $6500 to do the repairs and i have to wait 5-6 months because of the back ordered engine! Will never buy another kia... Should have bought a honda crv... My sister's has 250,000 miles on it and it runs like it's new!
