| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2012 kia sportage. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact pulled over, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and a loud banging noise was heard. In addition, smoke appeared from the front and rear of the vehicle. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
