| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2005 kia sportage. While refueling the vehicle, the fuel pump continued to click off as if the vehicle were full. The failure recurred on several occasions. On one occasion, while refueling, fuel leaked from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was not a leak in the fuel tank, however, the mechanic stated that the fuel sensor/overflow valve was faulty and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact inquired about nhtsa campaign number: 05v212000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the vin tool confirmed the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. |
