| Description of the problem | I was driving on a one lane road inclining when loud noise started coming from the engine. When i found a safe place to pull over, as i pulled over, the engine malfunction light eliminated solid. I had the car towed to my mechanic who told me i needed a new engine. I then towed it to kia, and was told by kia that the engine threw a rod. Was told that there was so much metal shavings in the oil pan, the pan was replaced. There was no oil on the dipstick at breakdown. Kia told me it was because all the oil had burnt up. 30 days prior to breakdown i had a software update done to the eui, which update was to alert prior to rod end bearing failure. I provided all oil maintenance records to kia and they replaced my engine free of charge. It took 6 weeks to complete.. |
