Description of the problem	Engine began making knocking noise. Checked oil level and no oil was showing on the dipstick. Had to add 2. 5 quarts of oil and continued to add around 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. Began to notice loss of power/acceleration and gas mileage. Took vehicle in to have spark plugs and fuel system cleaned. This did not resolve the issue. Took the car in again and they told me the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. Replacement has resolved power issues in the 3000 miles i have driven since replacement, but is still using oil at a high rate. Checked the nhtsa website and noticed many other owners reporting the same issues. Received a notice from kia over the summer to not got longer than 3750 miles between oil changes, so kia must know there is an issue with the engine. Hopefully they will issue a recall as they have done with the 1. 6l engine.
