| Description of the problem | 2014 kia soul steering failure 16 months after recall repair was done to prevent it (nhtsa campaign id number 15v736000). The steering made a clunking sound while making a left turn at a stop sign on a city street and the car continued straight across the intersection. Steering ability was completely disconnected. 29,000 miles on the odometer. Dealer inspection found the rack and pinion plug repair procedure was not involved, and instead the cause was the spline separating from the shaft. No cause was identified. Manufacturer was notified. |
