| Description of the problem | While driving at interstate speeds the accelerator stops working. There is a mild popping sensation and the gas pedal no longer has any effect. The car continues to run, but slows down naturally and will eventually slow to about 10mph. If you turn the vehicle off and restart it, it runs normally until the next time it randomly does this at 70mph. I have only had it happen on the interstate while going about 70mph. It is not like going into neutral... The engine does not respond to the gas pedal at all... Not revving... Nothing. It can go days without doing this and then do it 4 times in one trip on the highway. |
