Description of the problem	Driving in mountains in southwest in october using cruise control at 60 mph. The cruise was disengaged by the driver as a turn approached. Vehicle suddenly accelerated fully. Brakes did not slow it and they became unresponsive. Driver put vehicle in neutral and engine continued to rev past 6000 rpm's. In neutral, vehicle was able to coast to a stop. After a tow to a repair shop, the mechanic found the cruise control assembly broke and the cable connected to the throttle recoiled pulling the throttle wide open. The mechanic disengaged the cruise control cable from the throttle and the vehicle could be driven normally without cruise.
