Description of the problem	While driving on the freeway, engine died and then restarted. The car engine started to make a loud noise and it would no longer shift, so manually shifted and the engine temp gauge began to rise so, pulled over and shut the engine off and called aaa to tow the car to a dealer. Kia dealer advised that cylinder 3 rod bearing failure occurred which sucked all the oil into the engine (they said that is how they immediately knew what the issue was). We just bought this car 6 weeks earlier, but i could not afford the extended warranty. Wei had a tune up and oil change 2 weeks earlier and we faithfully check the oil to ensure it is as expected. The dealer advised there was no way we could have avoided the engine failure, and we needed a new engine. The costs was $5,111. 96 to replace. We cannot afford to get rid of the vehicle and i was forced to replace the engine. Now we having over $12,000 between buying it and fixing it. Failure on a freeway is unacceptable, especially during rush hour. Kia needs to do something about these engines as this should never have happened. Maybe if enough people report these issues, they will be forced to fix the problem and reimburse people like us that cannot afford these kind of problems.
