| Description of the problem | Sudden acceleration. I was pulling my kia amanti (which i love) into a parking stall in a very crowded supermarket parking lot. I was braking to stop when my car accelerated. I did not notice the rpms. But it accelerated hard, and my foot on the brake did not stop it. I plowed into the back of a vehicle in the opposite stall pushing it approx 10 feet before my car also hit 10" cement pole that was there to protect a powerplant (i think) at the edge of the parking strip. The pole stopped my car. There was a couple in the car i hit and a passenger in my car; everyone was badly shaken, but nobody was hurt. If there had not been a pole there my car might have gone on pushing the vehicle i hit until it hit another car or, god forbid, a pedestrian. |
