Description of the problemAfter only 2 years of highway driving my 2014 jeep wrangler unlimited started leaking oil. I took it in to the dealership and was told that the oil cooler was failing and leaking. The mechanic said that the "standard" oil filter that had been installed at my last oil change (which was done at a reputable facility) was thicker and better than the filter chrysler uses. This thicker, better filter apparently causes oil pressure to increase in order for the engine to move the oil thru this filter. A quick search online found multiple other accounts of the same part failing. The repair was covered under the powertrain warranty but i was told that if i use any oil filter other than the one they sell that if another failure occurs it would not be covered.
