Description of the problemDuring the winter storm in texas temperatures where below 0. My family was without power and need to evacuate. After starting the engine i started to smell burning oil with the engine idling. I noticed there was engine oil dripping from transmission, driveshafts and skid plates. I traced the oil back up to the engine and then further to the top of the engine. There is engine oil and coolant pooled in the valley between the engine heads, underneath the intake manifold. The oil filter/cooler assembly is leaking either the o-rings are bad or the plastic housing has cracked. Researching i found this has been an issue for some time. Clearly a manufacturers defect. Why no recalls? Plus the part from retailers state the the part is no longer available for purchase.
