Description of the problemAt approximately 60k miles my 2013 jeep wrangler sport unlimited started "stalling" inexplicably. When this happens you lose all throttle control, and your power steering. Which can be challenging when your in the left hand lane of a four lane interstate going 65mph. This caused a tractor trailor to jack knife and slide down the interstate... Luckily, i and the few others on the road at the time survived. After taking my vehicle in for the fifth time for the same problem i started researching myself. I was shocked to find it appears to be an epidemic problem with the 12-14 jeeps with the new pentastar engines. It also appears that no fca/jeep dealership in the country has figured it out. If those were the first with the new motor, it stands to reason if it doesn't appear there is a fix, that it will continue. And i can tell you from personal experience, people are going to die from this safety issue. This typically happens when down shifting to get power, or when shifting into gear after backing out of a parking stall. The throttle is lost completely and the power steering as well. You can try to crank the vehicle, but it will not start until after about five to ten minutes. It will then start up and drive like nothing happened. No codes are shown and dealerships have no way to identify the problem unless they can replicate it. That would be the beginning anyway. Some serious effort needs to be put into this, again, it doesn't appear to be being addressed, and it will only get worse as the jeeps from 2012 on get older and get to the 60k range.
