| Description of the problem | On two occasions, within a two week period, the vehicle continued to accelerate after the accelerator pedal had been released. The most severe occurred while passing and overtaking another vehicle. The application of the brakes and the parking brake did nothing to stop the acceleration. During the intended passing the vehicle reached 70 mph. The unintended acceleration took the vehicle to 85 mph. Eventually the vehicle stopped accelerating and was driven to the side of the roadway. |
