| Description of the problem | When filling gas tank a large backsplash of gas comes out as tank approaches full. I tried adjusting the gas hose nozzle both in and out. Splashing occurs in all cases. Gets less the further the nozzle is pulled out. Gas could splash on person standing close, mostly runs down side of jeep and onto and over rear bumper and onto ground. Service station attendants have come out to check for issue due to amount of gas spilled. Car had no issues with this for first 3 years. Problem developed suddenly with no warning. Only fix is to not completely fill tank but you have to guess each time how close to full the tank is. Gas spilled out between 1/10 and 1/2 gal each time -hard to measure. |
