| Description of the problem | When refueling the vehicle, gasoline with shoot out of the fuel fill when the tank is nearly full. From speaking with other jeep wrangler unlimited owners (2005 & 2006 models only), this issue is commonplace and unaddressed by jeep. It is reportedly due to a design flaw in the overflow value in the filler tube. Each time this happens, approximately 1/4 of gasoline will flow out of the tank before the gas pump clicks off. This has exposed me to gasoline on my skin, as well as spilled fuel on the ground. There is risk due to exposure to ethanol and other chemicals, environmental exposure with gasoline on the ground, and fire risk. |
