Description of the problemMy wife and i were going shopping, we had traveled approximately 6 miles from ou home, we were crossing over the expansion joint of a bridge. The vehicle started to shake and vibrating wildly. I immediately slowed down and eventually came almost to a stop, so as to stop the skaking and vibrating. Within a few days i made an appointment with the service department at the dealer where i had purchased the vehicle. I explained to them what had happened, their response was "oh, so you experienced the jeep wrangler death wobble". I asked what they were going to do about it. Their response was, well we can try a more heavy duty steering stabelizer. I said ok, let's do it. They installed it and it cost me $204. 05. I left and proceeded to go home. The same type of shaking and vibrating started again. I made another appointment, and the said that they would try an extra heavy duty stabelizer. They did. It cost me $150. 00. I didn't want to pay anything, but the general manager and i negotiated, with the understanding that if the extra heavy duty stabelizer didn't stop the problem, that he would refund, to me, the full amount that i had paid. The extra heavy duty stabelizer did not fix the problem, however the problem does not occur as often. I did receive a full refund, which is great, but the problem is still there. My feeling is, that the extra heavy duty stabelizer simply covers up the problem. There are times that i can feel the front end of the vehicle starting to shake and vibrate. According to the internet (jeep wrangler death wobble), is a fairly common happening, and that jeep/chrysler are full well aware of it, but have done nothing. I also understand that national transportation safety board, is aware of the problem, but thus far has not done anything to force jeep/chrysler to fix it. Maybe there haven't been any/enough deaths yet!
