Description of the problemAutomatic shutoff of gas pumps does not work with this vehicle. Attempting to fill the tank to capacity with automatic shutoff causes gas to surge out around the pump nozzle flowing down the side of the vehicle, onto the ground, and sometimes onto the operator of the gas pump. This occurs anytime the vehicle's gas tank is filled to full capacity. It was first noticed when filling at maximum flow of the pump with hold latch engaged, relying on automatic shutoff. It also occurs when the operator tries to ease towards a full tank reducing flow as the tank approaches where it should be full. The first occurrence of the issue was approximately fall 2009 and happened sporadically every few months until october 2011. Previously the issue was attributed by the owner of the vehicle to the service station pumps. Since mid-october 2011, this issue now occurs every time the vehicle is filled at any gas station.
