Description of the problemDuring the first week of september 2010, when refueling my 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited, when the gas station fuel pump /nozzle automatically shuts off, fuel began to overflow / backflow and spill out onto the side of the jeep and the ground. This continued to happen almost everytime i refueled. I began stopping the fuel nozzle manually when it sounded like the fuel was getting close to the nozzle. It would still overflow on occasion. Now i have to refill the jeep's gas tank judging by how low the gas gauge reads and how many gallons i put in. Usually i fill the gas tank a to little over three quarters of a tank. I do not feel comfortable filling up the gas tank until it is full or filling it until the pump automatically shuts off when it sense the tank is full because the amount of overflow varied, but in worst cases i estimated it was anywhere from 10 fluid ounces to 32 fluid ounces which really concerns me. There were times when the gas literally gushed out enough to splash onto the thigh area of my pant leg and shoes, while i was standing a good 18 inches from the jeep.
