| Description of the problem | 2008 jeep wrangler gas tank overflows after automatic pump shutoff is activated. No "topping off" is performed. Approximately 1/4 - 1/2 gallons of gasoline "burps" out of gas tank and spills down vehicle and onto ground. This problem occurs everytime the gas tank is filled and is quite dangerous, as it could lead to vehicle fires due to the excess fuel and vapors. The dealer has informed me that they have never heard of this problem, but seems to be quite prevalent on the internet. No fix has been taken at this time on my vehicle, but i read that replacing the fuel tank fixes the problem. |
