| Description of the problem | When filling the fuel tank on my '08 jeep wrangler, the tank overflows and spills gas all over the side of the vehicle. I lock the tab on the fuel nozzle to auto fill the tank, and everything works as normal until the pump shuts off. When the pump shuts itself off, it is quickly followed by gas gushing back out of the filler port. The first time it happened, it sprayed gas all over my pants, shoes, gloves, all over the back corner of my jeep, and left a 3ft diameter puddle of fuel on the ground. I have had the jeep since new (bought in feb '09) and it just turned 40k miles. The first instance happened about 2 weeks ago, and it has happened three more times since then. |
