Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owns a 2012 jeep patriot. While driving 70 mph, the rpms increased on their own and the vehicle began to stall without warning. The contact had to pull over. Once the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and a code related to the transmission appeared. The contact took the vehicle to be serviced by several independent mechanics; however, the failure continued. After the recent failure, the mechanic stated that only jeep could repair the failure because it was a programming issue. The contact called station chrysler jeep of mansfield (91 chauncy st, mansfield, ma 02048, 508-339-3400) and was informed to bring the vehicle in to be assessed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
