| Description of the problem | The front crossmember is rusted through. Chrysler extended the warranty for the 2007 to ten years to cover this problem, which if it fails can lead to loss of steering. Chrysler will not extend the warranty for the 2009 patriot, which seems to have the exact same part and problem as the 2007 vehicles. My car has only 54800 miles on it and has been garage kept since i bought it. I believe this is a defect in the part resulting in a premature failure. I will have to get this replaced myself.
