Description of the problem	When taking a trip to the grocery store. Which is about 20 miles from our rural home, when driving on the highway, an oncoming semi truck was coming in the opposite direction, and when he passed me, the hood of the jeep literally lifted up about 1/2 inch. The hood didn't come off, the pins actually caught it before that happened, so i contacted the dealership where i had purchased it from and they told me that what they could do was to drill two holes in the hood of the jeep and attach heavy duty cotter pins to keep it secure. Advice not taken! I have looked on a few different complaint sites for 2008 jeep patriots and apparently i am not the only person to have had this occur, and one gentleman's hood actually did come off, causing him to crash, luckily he was treated for scrapes and bruises only, but it could have been devastating! There are a lot of things that are good about the jeep patriot, but this is one aspect that i wish i would have known prior to purchasing it, as i am sure this would not have made it to my "gotta have it" list of vehicles. Come on jeep! Take care of your customers! You didn't hesitate to take the money, so fix the issues!
