| Description of the problem | Tl*the contact owns a 2010 jeep patriot. While attempting to drive in reverse the gear shift lever malfunctioned. He was able to release the brake pedal and move the vehicle into a parking space with the emergency brake on. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who confirmed that the shift lever retaining clip caused the gear shift to fail. The dealer replaced the retaining shift lever clip and cable.
